Matthijs has been producing liquorice, wine gums and candies since 1920. Thanks to the experience handed down from generation to generation, Matthijs knows the market better than anyone. The original recipes still feature strongly in the current market and we’re proud of that! In addition to understanding the market better than anyone, we are also in favour of innovation. That works very well within our flexible, extensive production process!
Strict procedures The development of a new liquorice variety does not happen overnight. Our concept department works painstakingly on the first stage to achieve just the right combination of liquorice, salt, sugar and suitable colour, smell and taste. Once the recipe has been determined, the first series is produced under tight control, and after approval, the liquorice goes into production. Hygiene and quality are priorities within the production process. At every step of our production process, we have supervisors who test the liquorice, wine gums and candies. That way we are assured that after finishing, drying and glazing, we always deliver a superior, quality product.
IFS, BRC and HACCP accredited Naturally, Matthijs is fully accredited in terms of hygiene, production and consistently high quality. Every product that leaves the factory is guaranteed.
No AZO ingredients It is important to know that Matthijs does NOT use AZO ingredients. That means NO colours that could cause an allergic reaction are used.
Concept development At Matthijs, we continually develop new sweet products. It’s a challenging process in which we continue to excel. This is illustrated by our range of branded products such as the Russian Matroesjkas. We also develop custom liquorice products for private and fancy labels. For example, peanut-flavoured liquorice, or authentic strawberry -flavoured candies bearing company logos. We have plenty of ideas and options. For further information, please contact Matthijs. |
